Common Hemp Fabrics
Hemp can be made into many of the same items as cottons and linens.
Recommended Uses
Ropes, twines and cable. It can be substituted for flax. Hemp clothing is becoming more
popular and is used for loose fitting garments like: shirts, trousers, skirts, jackets, hats and
bags.
Properties
Hemp has little stretch (or elasticity) like linen, and is an exceptionally strong fibre. Most
end uses are the same as for linen.
Care
Wash in any temperature. Line dry when wet to save excess ironing. Use a hot iron with
steam. It can be bleached (with care), dyed and dry-cleaned.
